Expertise

Ed has worked for the Wildlife Trust since 2007 and has an excellent understanding of how a democratic community organisation based on a membership business model can acquire and develop assets which are then used to improve the environment in which those members live, work and play. This requires a good understanding of the financial and human mechanisms of a charity and here in Warwickshire ownership by the charity of a commercial company whose profits are used to support its work.

Why Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

Ed says: "Quite simply I think the Wildlife Trust model of local action to be wonderful and it is immensely satisfying to have a responsible job which is so close to the action on the ground, meaning that I often see the result of decisions I have been part of taking, although in some cases that can take a few years!"

Expertise

Amanda says: "I have worked for the Trust for 15 years and throughout that time have always worked with people, helping to motivate people to volunteer, developing and  delivering new and exciting opportunities for children and young people to find out more about the wonders of nature and helping people to feel better through actively spending time in nature. I enjoy working in partnership with others, particularly new organisations and looking at how we engage new audiences."

Why Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

Amanda says; "I feel passionate about the invaluable role that nature plays in society, but also what it provides for us as individuals. I enjoy seeing the tremendous work that the Trust does and the enthusiastic people we work with but most of all I love to see the change that nature can make for people, seeing a child’s excitement at seeing a frog for the first time or the improvements to someone’s health having taken part in one of our wellbeing sessions is enormously gratifying."

Ian says: "I am passionate about leadership, and the impact people can have when we all work together effectively. Nature should be for everyone, and everyone can play their part in bringing our wildlife back. The natural world is at the heart of everything, it helps us grow our food, provides clean air, supports our mental and physical wellbeing and so much more. Not to mention it being awesome in its own right! As a senior leader within the charity my role is about bringing people together to achieve more through collaboration, working in partnership and supporting my colleagues to thrive in their roles."

Why Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

Ian says: "I love my job. The climate and ecological emergency is the biggest threat facing humanity and helping to lead a local response to a global problem motivates me every day. I work with some inspiring people and get to experience the wonder that our natural world has to offer as part of my job. I’ve worked in this sector for nearly two decades and it’s never been more exciting than what we’re doing now. The scale of the challenge is matched by our ambition."

Having worked 'out in the field' for many years across a variety of habitats and landscapes, I have also worked closely with people to nurture and lead volunteers to make a difference in their local green spaces. Latterly leading a team of wonderful staff, delivering projects for nature’s recovery and enabling positive opportunities for volunteers across our 66 nature reserves ensuring they are rich in wildlife and welcoming and accessible for people is the thrust of my work."

Why Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

Karl says: "I work for the Trust because not only does it allow me to be part of a movement that fights for nature, but I get to work with some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people who are dedicated to bringing about natures recovery.  The opportunity to work here enables me, in whatever I do, to make a difference for wildlife and people either today, tomorrow, next year or into the next century which is wholly unique.  There’s no other job I know of with such variety and I love being part of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust."

More about our Director of Finance and Support Services

Expertise

Phil said: "I worked for 20 years in the commercial sector before switching to the third sector. Over the last 10 years I have developed an in depth knowledge of charity finance and governance. My aim is to ensure support services are an integral part of the Trust. Outside of work I have set myself a goal of visiting all of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s Nature Reserves!"

Why Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

Phil says: "I work for the Trust because I believe in its charitable objectives and the visionary strategy that it will take to 2030. I work for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust in particular because Warwickshire is my county – it is where I was born and it's where I live. The green areas where I used to play as a child have been vanishing year by year, but the Trust is mitigating the damage to nature that is being caused by the huge infrastructure developments in our county. I am proud to work for an organisation like Warwickshire Wildlife Trust"
