About the event

Plant and Potter

A chance to spend some time relaxing in nature, learning new ways you can help wildlife, surrounded by people that 'get it' at our weekly session!

Do some gentle wildlife gardening and nature based tasks or simply sit in the sunshine with a cuppa and watch the resident robin!

Who are the sessions for:

  • Anyone over 18 and living with an energy limiting chronic health condition, such as (and not limited to) ME/CFS, Long Covid, EDS, Fibromyalgia, POTS, MS and COPD, that wants to spend more time outdoors, pottering, chatting, relaxing and doing something good for nature.

What can you expect:

  • Sowing seeds
  • Taking care of young (and old) plants
  • Gentle weeding and taking care of planters
  • Learning to identify plants, trees, birds and bees
  • Carrying out surveys to find out how much life we have in our gardens
  • Drinking cuppas and relaxing
  • To be met with empathy and kindness wherever you're at!

We can offer:

  • A flexible session - stay as long as you need whether it's half an hour for a cuppa or the full 2 hours. Joining late is NEVER a problem, neither is leaving early!
  • No regular commitment required. Attend as often as you like.
  • A calm, quiet indoor space if down-time or a place to rest is needed
  • Indoor or outdoor tasks to suit the weather
  • Accessible toilets
  • Free hot drinks

Carers, support workers, a supportive friend or family member would be more than welcome to join you.

What are sessions NOT?

  • We are not a support group, therapy or intervention.
  • There is no expectation for you to talk about your health or share any private information with the group.
  • We cannot offer medical or mental-health advice
  • We cannot provide 1:1 support
  • We cannot assist with personal care or the administering of medication

Particpants are encouraged to come in and meet Rosie, the group facilitator, ahead of their first session. This is to get a feel for the outdoor spaces we look after to make your first session feel less daunting, to get to know Rosie, complete the registration forms and to discuss any ways Rosie can help make the session more enjoyable for you and meet your needs.
