Join us for our AGM on the 24th June
This year’s event will shine a light on our work in urban spaces, and the impact on both people and wildlife. It will feature a keynote talk from Ed Drewitt, naturalist and broadcaster, on urban peregrine falcons.
Held at Drapers Hall, Coventry from 6.30pm – 9pm.
Featuring:
‘Stories from the Sherbourne - bringing wildlife back to urban areas and connecting people with nature’
We’re bringing back the source of our city. For people, for wildlife, for the future. Led by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, the Sherbourne Valley Project is working with partner organisations and local communities to re-write the future of Coventry’s River Sherbourne by establishing an urban living landscape in which people, nature and culture can thrive. The team will be talking about their river and wetland work, and the new Junior Ranger programme that is helping young people to connect with nature in the city.
‘Green places and headspaces – why access to nature in cities is so important for our wellbeing’
Our health and wellbeing team will be talking about their experiences of delivering health and wellbeing activities and nature connectedness in Coventry, and why it is so important for people to have access to greenspace in an urban area.
‘What makes an urban peregrine tick? – nature thriving in our cities’
Ed Drewitt is a naturalist and learning adviser. He is also a peregrine researcher and has been studying urban-dwelling peregrines for over 26 years. He is currently finishing a part-time PhD analysing his studies of what peregrines eat. During the past 25 years urban-dwelling peregrines have become widespread across the Midlands, including Warwickshire, with the most famous and watched pair on the town hall in Leamington Spa. In this illustrated talk Ed will be exploring why our towns and cities are so attractive to peregrines, what makes them so successful, and reveal insights into their urban living.
