What is a campaign?
A campaign is a collection of actions and/or events that aim to achieve a particular goal. This can include political and activism themes to influence social change. It could be short-term or long-term, one person or a group of people, online or in-person. Campaigns can take so many different forms, there isn't a one size fits all format. This hub of information and ideas is designed to help you create a bespoke campaign that speaks with a bold and confident voice for nature.
You don't have to be the loudest person in the room to make the most change
Craftivism - The Art of Gentle Protesting
At Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, we take an approach to campaigning rooted in craftivism (a beautiful blend of craft and activism) to bring about change for nature and wildlife. This method is inspired from the Craftivist Collective founded by Sarah P Corbett, an award-winning activist, that is purposefully non-aggressive and aims to "change hearts, minds, policies and laws through thoughtful and compassionate actions, intending to invite reflection and respectful conversation rather than division" (Sarah P Corbett - Forbes Magazine 2020.)
Craftivism can take many forms, interpretations and levels of experience. From embroidery to painting, writing to printing, poetry to crochet, baking to pottery, woodwork to graphic design, there are so many opportunities for everyone to get involved. You don't have to have experience or skill, but a willingness to get creative, slow down, and possibly make a few mistakes along the way.
If you are interested in coming along to one of our craftivism events & workshops or to organise a session for your local group (e.g. uniform groups, community groups, workplace, or something else), please email campaigns@wkwt.org.uk

Hello
My name is Catherine and I am the Campaigns Officer for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.
I love the 3 Cs: campaigns, community, and creativity.
I achieved a first class honours BA Sociology degree from Coventry University with 90% for my dissertation on Gentrification in Coventry and its' impact on a sense of community within the city. This used primary & secondary photographs to analyse how the physical landscape had changed as a result of commercial gentrification, studentification, and tourism gentrification.
I have 2 years of professional experience working as a campaigner in the Higher Education sector on a range of topics from increasing accessibility to green spaces to combatting student loneliness.
My speciality is engaging with activism through crafting (known as craftivism) and enjoy looking at social change through a creative lens.
Outside of the campaigning world, I do a lot of hiking and am aiming to summit Toubkal in Morocco next year.
