Bake Chocolate Peregrine Nests

Baking ingredients
Chocolate peregrine nests

Our chocolate falcon nest recipe is easy to follow and makes for a delicious sharing desert! You can make them with any flavour of chocolate, and use vegan chocolate or gluten-free cereal to adapt the recipe.

Peregrines nest in simple scrapes on rocky cliffs or tall buildings. Their nests can be made from sticks and twigs, pebbles, or rocks, so use any kind of cereal you like to recreate them!

Ingredients

For the nests

  • 400g chocolate
  • 100g butter
  • 50g golden syrup
  • 6 - 8 Shredded Wheat or 300g cereal (such as Rice Krispies or cornflakes)

For the decoration

  • Mini chocolate eggs or truffles

Method

1. In a bowl, crush your Shredded Wheat and set aside (if using puffed rice or another cereal, simply measure it out in a bowl).

2. Add the butter and golden syrup to a pan on a low heat, stirring often until melted. Remove from the heat.

3. Finely chop your chocolate and add it to the melted butter, stir until combined and glossy.

4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and mix to coat all the cereal.

5. Scoop the nest mixture into reusable bun cases or onto a sheet of baking paper.

6. Add your chocolate eggs - brown speckled ones look the most like peregrine eggs! - and leave to set.
