Osprey, kingfishers, and more!
Some exciting visitors were spotted at Brandon Marsh last week - a pair of osprey!
Osprey migrate incredible distances of up to 3,000 miles from sub-Saharan Africa. Having been driven to extinction in the Victorian era, they have made a remarkable comeback and now nest in parts of Scotland, Cumbria, the East Midlands and Wales.
The pair visiting Brandon were thought to be either a male and female or a juvenile and older male. They remained at the reserve for a few days to fish before continuing their journeys. We don't know if they'll return, but the sighting is an encouraging sign that the habitat at Brandon is healthy and suitable for these birds.
