FAQs
Do I need to have any specialist surveying knowledge?
No! Survey Force comprises a group of volunteers led by our Surveying, Monitoring and Management Officer. We are a mixed group in terms of survey knowledge and work together in small groups when on site, so you will be supported!
What do you survey?
We undertake habitat condition surveying and species monitoring.
What do I wear / bring?
- Weather appropriate clothing and waterproof. We usually advise on trousers rather than shorts to avoid scratches, thorns, bites and stings
- Sturdy footwear
- Sun cream and insect repellent
- A drink and packed lunch
- ID guides (if you have them)
- Hand lens if you have one
Where will I be surveying?
As part of the reserves team, our surveying opportunities extend across our entire portfolio of reserves, making this a great opportunity to visit sites across the county.
I would like to become a Survey Force volunteer but am not available on the dates listed.
If you would like to volunteer at a time or location nearer to you, then please get in contact anyway, as we may still be able to offer you a volunteering opportunity. In addition to our main group sessions, we also have a number of independent surveyors who survey a Warwickshire Wildlife Trust reserve(s) on their own. Our independent surveyors often have a particular species interest, so if that is you, please get in touch.
