Warwick District Council has appointed the Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy (SLC) to develop a feasibility study and draft masterplan for the potential future use of the site.
There are a range of possible options, including a new nature reserve, which encourage stronger engagement with the park by all sections of the community and provide opportunities for local people to be physically active.
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust believes that everyone deserves to live in a healthy, wildlife-rich natural world and experience the joy of wildlife every day. More and more people live their lives indoors and do not get to spend enough time in nature due to a lack of accessible local space.
Those that have the least access to nature also have the worst levels of physical health and mental wellbeing. Seeing birds near our homes, walking through green spaces filled with wild flowers and along clean rivers reduces stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression.
The Trust currently manages over 65 nature reserves in Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull, including Leam Valley and Welches Meadow, which border Newbold Comyn.
